If you're asked to name a French wine, Bordeaux is usually the first that springs to mind. Wines from the region around the southwestern French metropolis are famous for their complexity, elegance and class. But Bordeaux has so much more going for it than just wine. Join Florence Villeminot and Genie Godula as they discover the history and culture of the city through its gastronomy.

They take you on a boat ride with Bordeaux's last professional fisherman and teach you how to make a favourite local sweet treat called a cannelé. The pastry echoes a dark chapter of Bordeaux's past: when it was France's second-largest port of the African slave trade between the 17th and 19th century.

And of course, they dive into the wonderful world of Bordeaux's wines with a stop at a museum dedicated to the precious elixir: the Cité du Vin.
