Ecuador judge orders release of arrested Indigenous leader

An Ecuador judge ordered Wednesday the immediate release of Indigenous leader Leonidas Iza, who stands accused of paralyzing public transport services during anti-government protests, one of his lawyers said.

"The judge ordered his immediate release and that he appear periodically before the prosecutor's office" when the trial begins, lawyer Raul Ilaquiche told AFP by telephone.
