'Saudi Arabia is becoming one-man rule', exiled journalist says

In an interview with FRANCE 24, prominent Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi praised the anti-corruption crackdown undertaken by Saudi Arabia, stressing that the royal family had for decades unduly benefited from it. He warned, however, that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was moving the country towards "one-man rule" and "creating an environment of intimidation and fear".
Jamal Khashoggi said that if the Saudi crown prince, whom he described as the real power in the country, wants to deliver on his promise to usher in a more moderate form of Islam, he should "unplug" the support of Saudi authorities for radical clerics and groups.
He also argued that Saudi Arabia's recent moves in Lebanon have backfired and urged Riyadh to allow Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri to return home.
